Count Henry O'Byrne of Cháteau de St. Gery, France.
Arms of O'Byrne of St. Geri
Edward Henry O'Byrne originally of Bordeaux, France returned to Ireland after his father John Dominick died in Bordeaux in 1824. Edward Henry had a large fortune with lands in Tipperary and in County Louth which he held from his mother, Elizabeth. He rented a country house called Lissnawally, nr Dundalk, where he lived for about three years when he returned to France and on the 28th of November 1828 he married Gertrude de Rey de St. Geri of Rabestans, nr. Toulouse. The descendants of Edward and Gertrude , Count Henri O'Byrne and his wife Chantal, currently live in Chateau de St. Geri and and have visited Ireland many times. Henri has a vast library and is keenly interested in his Irish roots. Unfortunately there are some gaps still to be filled, however As Henri took DNA tests with our Clan project we can now establish connections with the ancestors of Val and with indications that Henri's ancestry may well be in Leinster and with a good possiblity of being descended from one of the Royal lineages of Crioc Branach.
